FOSSIL FORENSICS
How do scientists solve mysteries that are millions of years old? Step into the world of real-life palaeontology with the experts from Queensland Museum.
In Fossil Forensics, students will discover how scientists investigate ancient clues to uncover the story of Australia’s prehistoric past. From diligent fieldwork techniques and data collection to utilising cutting-edge technologies and heavy investigatory methods on not only the fossil material, but also the trace fossils left behind.
Using authentic examples, this presentation reveals what happens behind the scenes as technicians, collection managers and researchers prepare, conserve, analyse and interpret remarkable finds. Students will examine how fossil evidence is collected and investigated to answer scientific questions about Australia’s ancient past.
