Brisbane’s inclusive phenomenal, Real and Diverse Ensemble (RAD), supported by Centacare, returns to QPAC with their latest theatrical marvel: The Tea Lady Factor – a science fiction spectacular inspired by the iconic neo-expressionist film Metropolis.
Set in a dystopian robot factory in Geebung, this futuristic fable explores the clash between raw human emotion and the cold logic of machines. At its heart lies a tale of greed, rebellion, and one magical cup of tea that just might change everything.
This production is a collaboration between two of Brisbane’s premier arts organisations – Queensland Conservatorium and Circa – alongside a stellar cohort of independent Queensland artists. Featuring:
- Original musical composition and live string quartet direction by Nicole Murphy
- Movement direction by Brian Lucas
- Costume design by Libby McDonald
- Production design by Josh McIntosh
- Written by Sonny Clarke
- Artistic direction by Clark Crystal
Since 2019, RAD has captivated QPAC audiences with their signature blend of ensemble storytelling, absurd humour, heartfelt emotion, and playful theatricality. The Tea Lady Factor marks their fifth production at QPAC and promises to be their most ambitious yet. A compelling vision of tomorrow, this show challenges us to confront the risks of our technological future – with wit, wonder, and a uniquely Queensland spirit.
Experience Queensland theatre at its boldest and best.
