Boldly experimental and exquisitely restored on 35mm film print, A Page of Madness (1926) is set inside a psychiatric hospital and follows an elderly man who has become the institution’s janitor to be near his mentally ailing wife. Japanese director Teinsosuke Kinugasa uses innovative film techniques to convey the fantasies and memories of the patients.
This wildly inventive film will be complimented by a transcendent live score by post-rock band Hazards of Swimming Naked.
