Last seen in 2017, Pemulwuy! National Male Voice Festival finale is returning to QPAC to celebrate the mighty sound of 400 voices from throughout the country and abroad.

The triennial festival is a multi-generational gathering of male singers of all ages and backgrounds. Choristers unite for a multi-day workshop in Brisbane, before joining for the finale produced by leading Australian choral organisation Voices of Birralee, in association with Queensland Performing Arts Centre.

Highlights of the concert will include exciting and evocative premieres of new commissions by Australian composers, performed by boys and men’s choirs, led by acclaimed guest conductors.

The massed finale will involve a cast of around 400 voices raising the roof in an inspiring and powerful celebration of male choral singing.

Launched in 2008, Pemulwuy! National Male Voice Festival’s namesake honours the Aboriginal rainbow warrior, Pemulwuy, who was a member of the Bidjigal tribe. His name means “man of the earth”. It is also the title of the music written by Paul Jarman which tells of the legend of Pemulwuy.

Individual registrations are currently open for boys (from 10 years old) and men who wish to be a part of Pemulwuy! National Male Voice Festival. Register via pemulwuy.org.au.
