Robert Icke’s Oresteia takes the 3-play action of Aeschylus’ monumental The Oresteia – a founding work of western drama – into a single contemporary domestic crime‑drama. Aeschylus’ greatest and final play was a searing familial saga that examines the sins of a family over several decades and explores whether justice can ever really be done.

This Olivier Award‑winning adaptation of this moral dilemma, radically reimagines the Greek drama for the modern stage, investigating the justification of vengeance, the possibility of finding justice in retaliation, and the role of judicial democracy at work – themes that resonate two and a half millennia later.
