Musica Viva Australia has been advised that Giovanni Sollima has recently contracted COVID-19 and is unable to fly to Australia in time for his September concerts. We are thrilled to announce that Erin Helyard (harpsichord), the Artistic Director of Pinchgut Opera and Orchestra of the Antipodes, will instead join Avi Avital for performances.

Mandolinist Avi Avital and harpsichordist Erin Helyard are musicians of a feather. Both charismatic advocates for their respective instruments, they’re also masters of the baroque repertoire, bringing to it a unique sense of vitality and panache. They’re mega-watt performers, making every concert an event.

Musica Viva Australia is delighted to be bringing Avi and Erin together for the first time since 2018. They’ll explore their shared passion for the baroque in a program celebrating Bach, Vivaldi, Scarlatti, and other masters, framed by stories of Avi’s first encounters with this vibrant, often sublime body of work.

Experience music both stirring and reflective; marvel at works whose jewel-like construction is paired with a profound humanity; and revel in the most propulsive of dance rhythms as Avi and Erin illuminate the repertoire that has meant so much to them.

A conversational, intimate musical experience like no other, join Avi and Erin for a highly personal celebration of the baroque.
