In the 3rd Symphony Mahler articulates his life philosophy. Each of its six movements describe a link in an ascending chain of being: struggle and conflict in the 1st movement; the beauty of nature in the 2nd and 3rd movements; the mystery of human existence in the 4th. After hearing the angelic voices of children in the 5th movement we experience in the 6th movement an ecstatic hymn of love.
Mezzo-soprano Deborah Humble, the women of Brisbane Chorale, and a specially formed Queensland Youth Orchestras (QYO) Children’s Choir will join the young musicians of Queensland Youth Symphony (QYS) for this epic orchestral journey.
