Brisbane's Art Boat returns for a celestial floating art experience featuring the work of internationally renowned visual artist Lindy Lee. 

The Spheres takes its cue from Ancient Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras, who speculated that celestial bodies caused vibrations as they coursed majestically through the heavens. Just as the vibrations of harp strings cause musical notes to reverberate, moons, stars and planets also reverberate to create harmonic sounds. Pythagoras termed this the ‘Music of the Spheres’.  

Featuring a specially curated program that responds to the 'Music of the Spheres', live performances on board Brisbane's Art Boat include Camerata – Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra, Australasian Dance Collective, Vanessa Tomilson, and Michael Askill, Akosia, along with an evocative soundscape by Tribal Experiences Managing Director and Yuggera and Turrbal man, Shannon Ruska, and a commissioned sound work to accompany Lindy Lee’s stunning installation by Lawrence English.

Board Brisbane’s Art Boat at the Maritime Green at Northshore, Hamilton and take a beautiful scenic cruise up-river past New Farm, Kangaroo Point and the Story Bridge. Take in the stunning city scenery before disembarking in the heart of the BOQ Festival Garden at Southbank.

Important Information

Note: This is a one-way cruise — starting at Northshore Brisbane and finishing at South Bank.

  • You are required to arrive by the time stated on your ticket to allow sufficient time for boarding procedures. Patrons arriving after the time stated on their ticket are not guaranteed entry to the boat. 

  • Whilst we endeavour to run on time, mooring Brisbane's Art Boat is subject to the prevailing conditions. In the event of short delays, we ask for your patience.  

  • This is an outdoor event and you are advised to dress appropriately for the conditions on the day. 

  • Suitable for all ages. Children must be directly supervised by parents at all times on the Art Boat.  

  • Children under 12 months are free, but must be booked via QTIX on 136 246

This is an outdoor event and you are advised to dress appropriately for the conditions on the day. Cruises will proceed in light rain, where it is safe to do so.

The safety of audiences, artists and staff is the highest priority for Brisbane Festival, and the event may be cancelled, delayed or postponed in extreme weather at the sole discretion of the Festival.

If your event is cancelled by the Festival, you will be contacted.

Arrival

You are required to arrive by the time stated on your ticket to allow sufficient time for boarding and safety procedures. Patrons arriving after the time stated on their ticket are not guaranteed entry to the boat. Please allow enough time to park, and explore the on-land installation prior to your departure.

Food and drink

There is a food outlet and a bar on-shore selling a range of pre-cruise meal and snack options.

The on-board bar offers a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks and light meals. You are not permitted to bring any food, drinks or alcohol on board.

Toilet facilities are available both on-shore and on board.
